Questions
About money, specifically.
Why does the same service cost different amounts?
Because the variable is not the service, it is the difficulty. A background check on a subject with a stable address history and a traceable employer is a week's work. The same nominal check on someone who has moved four times across three states is a different file entirely.
Do you charge for the first consultation?
No. Intake is free, and part of its purpose is to establish whether you need us at all. We regularly end that call by telling someone their question is answerable by a lawyer, a registry search or a police complaint.
What is the payment structure?
An advance is required before work commences; the balance falls due as set out in the engagement agreement. For cases above ₹4,00,000 a milestone-based structure can be arranged. We accept bank transfer and UPI, and we issue proper invoices.
What is not included in the fee?
Travel and accommodation at actuals, specialist equipment hire where a case requires it, third-party and statutory fees such as court registry searches or laboratory analysis, and rush surcharges for work that displaces an existing engagement. All of it is estimated in the written scope before you agree to it.
What happens if you find nothing?
You receive a written report of what was checked, against which sources, and what could not be established. That is a genuine result and it is billed as work done. What we will not do is manufacture a finding to justify a fee.
Can I get a refund?
If we cannot commence or complete an engagement for reasons attributable to us, yes — in full or in part. If you cancel before work has commenced, at our discretion. Once fieldwork has started, costs already incurred are not recoverable.
